💨 Abstract
An appeals court in Serbia released three out of six detained political activists from jail on May 20, 2025, following protests and international criticism. The three, though freed from jail, remain under house arrest pending further proceedings. The activists were arrested in March after pro-government media aired secret recordings of their alleged plans to seize state institutions. Protests began after a train station collapse in November 2024 killed 16 people, with many blaming government corruption.
