đź’¨ Abstract
Peru's state-run oil company, Petroperu, failed to secure any bids to develop Block 64, an oil field overlapping ancestral territories of Indigenous groups. This news was celebrated by these communities and environmentalists who have long opposed oil development in the area due to environmental and rights concerns. Petroperu attributed the lack of bids to internal strategic shifts, denying that Indigenous opposition played a role.
