💨 Abstract
A former prison guard, Joshua Bartlett, pleaded guilty to hindering prosecution and falsifying records in the cover-up of Messiah Nantwi's beating death at Mid-State Correctional Facility in New York. Nantwi died from injuries sustained during a series of beatings by guards. Bartlett is the first guard to plead guilty in this case. Ten other correction officers, including two charged with second-degree murder, have pleaded not guilty.
