NTSB urges quick fix on some plane engines to prevent smoke from filling cabin after a bird strike -
💨 Abstract
Safety experts, including the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), recommended that Boeing's 737 Max and certain Airbus models undergo engine modifications to prevent smoke from infiltrating the cockpit or cabin following a bird strike or similar incident. The NTSB's findings emerged from two Southwest Airlines incidents in 2023. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Boeing are already aware and working on solutions, including a software update, expected in early 2026.
