đź’¨ Abstract

The U.S. Department of Defense will continue sharing crucial hurricane-tracking data from its weather satellites after initially planning to halt the distribution due to cybersecurity concerns and modernization efforts. This data, vital for accurate storm tracking and forecasting, was set to be discontinued but will now remain available until the program's end in September 2026. Meteorologists and scientists had warned about the risks of losing this information, especially amid rising threats from climate change-driven storms.
