💨 Abstract
A federal judge ruled that President Donald Trump illegally fired two Democrats from the Federal Trade Commission in 2025. The judge, Loren AliKhan, cited legal precedent that commissioners can only be removed for cause, not at the president’s discretion. Rebecca Kelly Slaughter can resume her duties, while Alvaro Bedoya resigned amid the lawsuit. The Trump administration plans to appeal.
