Jen Pawol made history as the first female umpire in a major league baseball game on August 9, 2025, officiating the first game of a doubleheader between the Atlanta Braves and Miami Marlins. Pawol, who has been working in the minor leagues since 2016, received her promotion just days before her debut. She will continue to umpire the rest of the series, with her next assignment behind the plate on Sunday.
