💨 Abstract
A U.S. Army Reserve lawyer, Christopher Day, was fired as a federal immigration judge after just a month for granting asylum at a high rate, conflicting with the Trump administration's deportation goals. Day granted asylum or relief in six out of 11 cases in November. The Trump administration has been firing judges deemed too liberal and hiring military lawyers to expedite asylum cases, aiming to reduce a backlog of 3.8 million cases.
