💨 Abstract
The Trump administration is considering destroying $9.7 million worth of contraceptives acquired by the U.S. for overseas aid, instead of distributing them. These contraceptives, stored in Belgium, will cost $167,000 to incinerate due to their hormonal content. The U.S. State Department confirmed this decision. Belgian officials along with global health organizations have been seeking alternative solutions to avoid their destruction.
