💨 Abstract
Yvette Brisset, a 92-year-old in a French care home, was found dead, allegedly after choking on a madeleine cake brought by Alain Jousselin. Jousselin had purchased Brisset's house through a viager agreement, where elderly owners sell properties at a discount, receiving regular payments while retaining living rights. Jousselin's involvement raised suspicions, leading to his three-year legal battle, with murder allegations eventually reduced to involuntary manslaughter.
