Israel has approved plans to construct 3,401 new housing units in the West Bank, a move heavily opposed internationally as it threatens to divide Palestinian territory and make a contiguous Palestinian state impossible. The ultradirecha Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich affirmed the decision, stating it will permanently erase the prospect of a Palestinian state.
