💨 Abstract
On August 7, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump ordered the Department of Commerce to start a new census that excludes undocumented immigrants. He plans to use data from the 2024 presidential elections for accuracy. This move diverges from traditional practices that count all residents regardless of immigration status. Trump attempted a similar change during his first term for the 2020 census.
