The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 7-4 in a rain-delayed game. Giancarlo Stanton and Ben Rice hit early homers, and the Yankees made several trade-deadline moves, acquiring reliever David Bednar. The Rays lost three starters to injury. Marcus Stroman started for the Yankees, allowing four runs, while Ryan Pepiot took the loss for the Rays, surrendering seven runs.
