💨 Abstract
In Quetta, Pakistan gunmen killed a policeman protecting polio workers, whom escaped unharmed. The attack in Noshki, Balochistan, comes amid increased violence by separatist groups and Pakistani Taliban. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack, which occurred during a nationwide polio vaccination campaign. Pakistan and Afghanistan are the only countries where polio persists. Since January, Pakistan has recorded 10 polio cases.
