💨 Abstract
Ukrainian soldier Serhii Hryhoriev, captured by Russian forces in 2022, repeatedly assured his family, "Everything will be all right." Despite this, he died in Russian captivity under suspicious circumstances, and an official Ukrainian autopsy revealed he suffered from violence and medical neglect. Hryhoriev is one of over 200 Ukrainian POWs who died in Russian custody, where abuse, torture, and medical neglect are reportedly common.
