💨 Abstract
On May 20, 2025, gunmen on a motorcycle killed the personal secretary and an advisor to Mexico City's Mayor Clara Brugada in a central neighborhood. Brugada, an ally of President Claudia Sheinbaum, condemned the attack and vowed to pursue the perpetrators. This incident follows the 2020 attempt on Sheinbaum's then police chief by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, which highlights ongoing violence in the region.
