💨 Abstract
José Adolfo Macías, alias "Fito," a leader of the "Los Choneros" gang, was recaptured in Ecuador over a year after escaping prison. He is wanted in both Ecuador and the U.S. for drug trafficking. Macías is indicted in New York for importing large amounts of cocaine and faces a 34-year sentence in Ecuador. His escape in 2024 remains unexplained.
