💨 Abstract

Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has signed a new law expanding affirmative action policies by increasing the quota for government jobs reserved for Blacks from 20% to 30%, and including Indigenous people and descendants of Afro-Brazilian enslaved individuals. This change aims to improve representation in public offices, as suggested by Da Silva. The quota applies to permanent and public employment positions across Brazil’s federal administration and will be revised in 2035.
