💨 Abstract
Police in Rio de Janeiro arrested four individuals and executed warrants in a raid against Comando Vermelho, a notorious criminal group. The group operated a clandestine ride-hailing app with over 300 drivers in Vila Kennedy, coercing them to install the app. Profits, up to 1 million reais monthly, funded drug trafficking through shell companies. Comando Vermelho, originating in Rio’s prisons, controls areas and services, and has banned other ride-hailing apps in some regions.
