đź’¨ Abstract
A U.S. congress member proposed that Israel withdraw entirely from southern Lebanon if the Lebanese Army takes full control of the country. Representative Darrell Issa made this statement in Beirut, during a visit where he met with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. The Lebanese government aims to disarm Hezbollah by the end of the year, a move opposed by the militant group, which insists on Israeli withdrawal from disputed territories and an end to airstrikes before any disarmament negotiations.
