💨 Abstract
Quebec’s chief coroner has ordered a public inquiry into the deaths of several homeless individuals in Montreal. The inquiry, led by coroner Stéphanie Gamache, will examine the causes and circumstances of five recent deaths and may consider others. The goal is to prevent future deaths and improve coordination among stakeholders to better protect vulnerable individuals. This announcement follows the recent deaths of three homeless people in the city, which deeply affected Montreal Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferada.
