💨 Abstract
The UK government has secured £14.2 billion for a new nuclear power station, Sizewell C, to enhance energy security and lower bills. The project, similar to Hinkley Point C, aims to replace aging nuclear plants and is a key part of the "Plan for Change." It will be jointly owned by the British government and EDF and constructed to withstand sea-level rise. Additionally, the government is backing small modular reactors to increase nuclear power supply.
