💨 Abstract
A report by the Independent Water Commission is expected to call for significant reforms in the water sector in England and Wales to address years of controversies over bills and sewage issues. The sector has been criticized, with even Environment Secretary Steve Reed acknowledging its "broken" state and promising to halve sewage pollution by the end of the decade or stepping down. The report may recommend abolishing the regulator Ofwat, which has failed to curtail sewage pollution despite high executive pay and dividends.
