💨 Abstract
The Public Interest Business Protection Tax (PIBPT) in the UK is a unique taxation measure that has never been paid or generated revenue. Introduced in the Finance Act of 2022, the PIBPT was designed to deter large businesses from actions that could lead to the collapse of energy companies, particularly amidst market uncertainties caused by COVID-19 and geopolitical events.
