đź’¨ Abstract
A territorial dispute in southern Yemen has strained the alliance between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, fracturing the coalition fighting the Iran-backed Houthis. The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) seized territory but was largely retaken by Saudi-backed forces. Talks to resolve the dispute failed when STC leader Aidarous al-Zubaidi did not attend, reportedly due to UAE intervention.
