💨 Abstract

Yemen's southern separatist leader, Aidarous al-Zubaidi, skipped a flight to Riyadh for talks, staying in Aden to oversee military operations. This move deepened the rift between Saudi Arabia and the UAE, who back opposing sides in Yemen's civil war. The Saudi-backed government dismissed two ministers and accused Zubaidi of high treason. The UAE, which supports the separatists, called for de-escalation.
