💨 Abstract
South Africa is moving towards a zero-tolerance policy on drunk driving. Parliament has endorsed plans to ban drinking and driving entirely, aiming to implement this change by Easter. Currently, the legal blood alcohol limit is 0.05g/100ml, but this will be reduced to zero. The Department of Transport's policy has been refined over years and is ready for implementation. Violations will result in severe penalties, including potential lifetime driving bans and imprisonment.
