💨 Abstract
The Department of Transport in South Africa is facing a significant backlog in printing driver’s licenses, with a current queue of over 602,000 cards. The issue stems from the failure of the country's sole card printing machine and tender irregularities preventing the procurement of a new system. To address this, the Department has sought assistance from the Department of Home Affairs, which is developing a prototype printing machine.
