💨 Abstract
The Chief Whip of the Emalahleni local municipality, Xoliseka Lali, was fatally shot in Komani on July 21. Eastern Cape police arrested three suspects aged between 37 and 42, including a senior municipal official, following a thorough investigation. The suspects appeared in court on July 30, charged with murder. Acting police commissioner Major General Thandiswa Kupiso praised the swift action of the Serious Violent Crime unit.
