💨 Abstract
In Cape Town, a low-cost device called a litterboom has removed over 23 tonnes of waste from rivers in four months. The project, a collaboration between the City of Cape Town and The Litterboom Project, involves installing floating barriers to trap waste before it reaches the ocean. These barriers also create jobs in local communities. The collected waste is recycled and turned into everyday items.
