💨 Abstract
South African passport holders can now travel visa-free to 100 countries, down from 101 in January 2026 due to the loss of access to the Falkland Islands. According to the 2026 Henley & Partners Passport Index, South Africa ranks 96th out of 199 countries. This ranking highlights moderate global access, with visa-free travel to 100 destinations but significant limitations compared to top passports.
