💨 Abstract

In Teotihuacán, Mexico, the Quetzalcoatl Temple, or Feathered Serpent Pyramid, built around 1,800-1,900 years ago, was found to contain large amounts of liquid mercury during an excavation that began in 2003. Experts believe this mercury may symbolize an underworld river, potentially indicating the presence of a king's tomb or ritual chamber.
