💨 Abstract
The National Park Service completed the first phase of the Tidal Basin reconstruction in Washington D.C. eight months ahead of schedule. The project, funded by the Great American Outdoors Act, includes rebuilding the sea wall to protect the Jefferson Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, and cherry blossom trees from flooding. The new sea wall features deeper foundations and wider walkways to withstand stronger storms and rising sea levels.
