💨 Abstract
Claudio Neves Valente, a Portuguese immigrant, is suspected of a mass shooting at Brown University and the murder of an MIT professor, Nuno Loureiro, his former classmate. Valente, who had a troubled academic history, was found dead by suicide. The motive remains unclear. Valente was a physics student at Brown but withdrew without a degree and later obtained permanent U.S. residency. Loureiro, the victim, was a renowned physicist at MIT.
