💨 Abstract

In the United States, nearly 22% of residents aged 5 and older speak a language other than English at home, reflecting the nation's linguistic diversity. Spanish is the most spoken non-English language nationally, but languages like Korean, Vietnamese, and even Central Yup’ik vary by state. This diversity persists despite recent immigration policies. California has the highest non-English speaker rate (44%), while West Virginia has the lowest (2.5%).
