💨 Abstract
President Trump has declared a public safety emergency in D.C., mobilizing 800 National Guard members and federalizing the D.C. police. About 100-200 troops will be on streets at a time to deter violent crime, with the capability to detain citizens for police turnovers. Duration of their deployment will be at the president's discretion, potentially lasting weeks or months.
