đ¨ Abstract
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich criticized the county council and planning board for approving a zoning text amendment allowing duplexes and apartments along transit corridors, citing insufficient public input. The amendment, Zoning Text Amendment 25-02, passed with an 8-3 vote amid heated opposition. Elrich, who lacks veto power over zoning amendments, argued that the process may deter residents. Planning Board Chair Artie Harris defended the board's community engagement efforts.
