💨 Abstract
Phillip Reeder, a 52-year-old unarmed man, died after an Alabama police officer knelt on his neck, leading to a coroner ruling his death a homicide. Reeder’s family, comparing his case to George Floyd's, noted Reeder told officers, “I can’t breathe.” The police recorded video is unreleased due to ongoing investigation. Reeder’s family called this use of force unnecessary and deadly.
