💨 Abstract
An explosion at U.S. Steel's Clairton Coke Works in Pennsylvania killed two and injured 10. The plant, key in converting coal to coke, had prior incidents causing environmental and health issues. Allegheny County officials warned residents to stay away and treatments were given to the injured. Steel, an industry icon, faces scrutiny and control measures from the U.S. government following the incident.
