💨 Abstract

After three consecutive years of decline, homicides in Mexico increased in 2024, reaching 33,241, a rise of 3.1% from 2023. Most victims were men, and in seven out of ten cases, firearms were used. Specialists noted that while the increase is marginal, it disrupts the downward trend of previous years. Key states experiencing spikes include Tabasco, Sinaloa, and Chiapas.
