Texas defeated Florida 3-0 in the Women’s College World Series opener. Joley Mitchell hit two home runs, and Teagan Kavan pitching allowed only two hits. Texas will face the winner of the Oklahoma-Tennessee game on Saturday. Florida will play in an elimination game on Friday. Mitchell's homers came in the second and sixth innings, with her first traveling 250 feet. Kavan improved to 25-5, while Rothrock gave up three home runs.
