Nijaree Canady's exceptional performance helped Texas Tech secure a 1-0 victory against Mississippi in the Women’s College World Series. Canady, last year’s USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts, leading Texas Tech to their first Big 12 titles and a spot in the semifinals. Texas Tech will play either Oregon or UCLA on Saturday.
