💨 Abstract

Metro's automation of trains progressed as the Green and Yellow Lines transitioned to automated operation. CEO Randy Clarke emphasized the focus on reliability and safety, noting that Metro aims to match global standards in automated rail systems. Although trains were initially designed for automation, they switched to manual operation in 2009 following a fatal crash. Automated trains will still have a human operator for specific scenarios like bad weather or track work.
