On July 1, 2025, the D.C. region experienced a hot, muggy morning leading to severe weather and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m. and a flood watch from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., warning of potential flash flooding, damaging winds, and hail.
