💨 Abstract
A massive Saharan dust cloud, the biggest of the year, blanketed the Caribbean, causing respiratory issues. Extending 2,000 miles, it is expected to reach parts of the southern U.S. by late week. This phenomenon, known as the Saharan Air Layer, can suppress hurricane formation and occurs annually from April to October, peaking in June and July.
