💨 Abstract
On March 23, 2026, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will oversee the reburial of 63 Khoi and San ancestral remains in the Northern Cape. These remains, repatriated from European museums, were illegally taken during the colonial era for research. The event, led by the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, aims to restore dignity and honor the indigenous communities' struggle against dispossession and cultural erasure, aligning with Human Rights Month.
