đź’¨ Abstract
The National Consumer Commission (NCC) in South Africa has initiated an investigation into several leading sanitary pad brands following a study by the University of the Free State. The study identified potentially harmful endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) in some products, including parabens, phthalates, and bisphenols, which are linked to health issues like hormonal imbalances and certain cancers. The NCC is assessing whether these products comply with consumer protection laws and may require further testing or recalls.
