💨 Abstract
South Africa's extensive coastline offers significant untapped wave energy potential. A feasibility study by Eco Wave Power identified 8.3 megawatts of untapped energy at the Port of Ngqura, enough to power 8,300 homes. The study, conducted with Africa Great Future Development Ltd, suggests the port's breakwater edge is suitable for onshore wave energy implementation. If approved, it would be Africa's first wave power station.
