💨 Abstract
The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) in South Africa uncovered a bribery scheme within the Home Affairs department, where officials allegedly took R16.3 million in bribes to issue unlawful permits and visas. The scheme involved several foreign nationals, including Shepherd Bushiri, Timothy Omotoso, and Prince Daniel Obioma. Investigators found that officials used e-wallet transfers, unregistered cellphones, and spouses' bank accounts to hide payments.
