Trump administration must resume $11 billion in funding for public health departments, judge rules -
đź’¨ Abstract
A federal judge in Rhode Island, Mary McElroy, has ordered the Trump administration to halt $11 billion in cuts to federal public health funding. The injunction, requested by 23 Democratic-led states, aims to preserve pandemic-related funds for COVID-19 initiatives and mental health services. The federal government must comply by May 20, 2025. Health departments nationwide have already laid off employees due to the sudden funding reduction.
